2019 Jeep Cherokee interior shown.

Our brand's iconic mid-size SUV is back, and the 2020 model year promises a more comfortable and better-equipped interior than ever. We have few details yet, but here's what we know.

The lineup will feature five trims: base Latitude, step-up Latitude Plus, midrange Limited, luxurious Overland, and the hardcore Trailhawk. The first four will offer 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains, while the last will incorporate four-wheel drive standard.

Interior-wise, style will be a forte. A Ski Grey interior will be available in the Latitude Plus trim, alongside other color options such as black, black and light frost, and black and dark sienna. Ditto for cargo space. Jeep Cherokee will see an improvement of as many as four cubic feet.

On the technology front, it'll stay true to its long-time safety commitment, offering more than 80 safety and driver-assist features as a mix of standard and available. An Advanced Safety Group, for instance, will be available in Latitude, Latitude Plus, Limited, and Overland trims, incorporating Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning Plus systems and rain-sensing wipers.

You can also expect a slate of the latest Uconnect infotainment systems to choose from, with easier-to-use features, better and faster start-up times and processing power, even more responsive touchscreens, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility for smartphone connection. Alexa Skill tech will also come available for 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C and 4C NAV systems, enabling the use of your favorite virtual assistant on the roads and highways of Kauai.

There's plenty else to look forward to in the new 2020 Jeep Cherokee. Stay tuned for more updates.
